Fruit and Vineyard Diseases Unit

       The main tasks of the deparment are to diagnose fungal diseases that cause damage in orchards and vineyards using morphological and molecular methods, to determine their prevalence, to reveal their biology, epidemiology and control methods.

Projects supported by TAGEM and EUPHRESCO are carried out in the department. These are:

• Determination of the Prevalence and Density of Diseases and Pests in Central Anatolian Walnut (Juglans regia L.) Production Areas,

• Detection of Phytopthora species in Bursa Province Fruit (Apple, Walnut, Cherry, Peach) and Isparta Province Apple Nursery and detection of Reactions of Some Apple Rootstocks to Aggressive species,

• Investigation of the Resistance Status of Monilinia laxa to Some Fungicides in Cherry, Sour Cherry and Apricot Trees in Isparta, Konya and Afyonkarahisar Provinces,

  • Inventory and Validation of quality control procedures for the extraction of nucleic acids for real-time PCR used for diagnosis of pests (Euphresco),

• The free field project carried out by Afyonkarahisar, Aksaray, Ankara, Bartin, Bolu, Burdur, Çankırı, Çorum, Eskişehir, Isparta, Karabük, Karaman, Kayseri, Kırıkkale, Kırşehir, Konya, Nevşehir, Niğde, Yozgat, Zonguldak Provincial Directorates of Agriculture and Forestry for the quarantine pest Monilinia fructicola is coodinated by this Department.
