Mission

The main purpose of Quality and Technology Department is to contribute selections of the breeding programs by determination quality characteristics of breeding materials. Quality studies are performed for bread wheat, durum wheat, barley, triticale, oats, soybeans, safflower, buckwheat, sunflower, corn, beans, and chickpeas. In addition, several projects are carried out aiming to determine the effect of agronomical techniques on quality.

Quality analysis of some of the breeding program materials are done for research institutes, universities, the private sector and IWWIP within breeding programs.

Duties
  1. Contribution to the development of varieties in high-quality.
  2. Determination of compliance of breeding materials for desired characteristics.
  3. Breeding suitable varieties for desired purpose
  4. Breeding materials are classified based on quality features.
  5. Theoretical and practical transferring the experience related to quality to national and international fellows.
  6. Breeding materials are analysed in the quality lab using fast and reliable methods and the results are provided to breeders for selection based on quality features before next planting season.
