Department of Quality and Technology

The department was established in 1951 with the name of the Department of Cereal Technology and has been working since 1969 as the Central Laboratory.

The Laboratory named as "Quality and Technology Department" in 2005, has been working to analyze up to breeding materials (analyses change due to the breeding stage) which are wheat (bread and durum), barley (malting and feeding), triticale, food legumes and rice produced by all breeding institutes in Turkey.

The main aims of department are;

  • To determine new, current varieties and lines quality,
  • To improve breeding lines and varieties with better yield, resistance to diseases and suitable quality for bakery, pasta and malt industry.
  • To analyze and evaluate samples coming from agronomy trials.
  • To determine suitable areas in order to developing and producing good quality varieties
  • To analyze the candidate lines for Variety Registration and Seed Certification Centre (TTSMM)
